Righteousness

  • by

How does righteousness grow? It does not start with football, good grades, or trophies. Those things are what the world sees as important — particularly by instilling those values in their children. Not that there is anything necessarily wrong with them, they may even be good, but are they truly important?

Where does God say righteousness should begin? It should begin with an education in the Word of God.

Consider His message to His people: “these words … teach them diligently to your children” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). King Jehoshaphat established a rigorous education in God’s ways among all the people (2nd Chronicles 17:7-9). Timothy’s faith was instilled in him by his mother and grandmother (2nd Timothy 1:5)

Righteousness is an important characteristic of the Lord and for us: “For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; The upright will behold His face.” (Psalm 11:7) “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But  righteousness delivers from death.” (Proverbs 11:4)

May we fill our own hearts and others’ with God’s Word!
