“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” – Genesis 1:1
This is a passage many of us memorized as children. For most people, it was probably the first bible verse that we ever learned. Just ten words, yet so much is packed into them. It tells us where we came from, where the earth came from, and where everything came from. If you don’t believe this is how the earth (and everything else) came from, then what is the point of Life? One of my favorite books to talk about the point of life is the book of Ecclesiastes
“I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of
men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.
For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls
them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has
no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.
All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust” –
Ecclesiastes 3:18-21
If we do not believe in God then we are no different than animals, and you can see what the consequences are just by looking around in the world today. People will kill babies but fight for animal rights. In their mind animals are more important than human lives. You can argue with them all you want that abortion is murder but if they don’t believe in God then it won’t matter, because in their minds, that baby’s [baby’s] life is about as important as a rat’s life. So when you are talking to someone about morals, First, you need to both establish a belief in God. Give evidence of God’s existence and why He hates what you are reprimanding them of. Instead of just having “Flame wars” with them on social media.
