The daily interactions people have today are quite different than those in the first century. Our influence is seen by not just people around us, but even more by those with whom we have interaction on the internet. Our world and generation are fast becoming connected to the internet.
If we truly believe in Jesus, we believe that He commanded in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you…” We see that teaching others is a command, but we should do this with love, for God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim. 2:4) Some might ask why He desires all men to be saved; in Romans 8:20-21 “for the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” God wants for Himself sons, because that’s why we were created. He wanted this before the creation, as we see in 2 Timothy 1:9 “who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.” Ephesians 1 and 2 list the blessings to be found in Him.
Consider the following example: You are a Christian. You are on social media a fair bit and someone who is not a Christian starts following you. Then you change your profile to include statements about your faith, your church website, the blessings in Christ, and the steps to obey God’s will: hear the Word of God (Rom. 10:17), believe (Heb. 11:6, John 8:24, Mark 16:15-16), repent (Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38), confess (Rom 10:9-10, Phil. 2:9-11), baptize (Matt. 28:18-20, I Pet. 3:21, Rom. 6:3-4), and live faithfully (Rev. 2:10, II Tim. 4:7-8). He sends you a message, asking if you will study and talk more with him about Jesus. In a short period of time of study with you, he becomes a Christian and begins working and worshipping at a local congregation. Because of your faith, he: updates his profile and mentions his faith, his church website, the blessings in Christ, and how and why God wants everyone to be saved. He also may bring many souls to Christ because of it. Brethren, we need to let our faith overflow into everything we do, because nothing we do can make up for what He has done.
